"That's not part of the script"

Hi, I'm Kiani.

In 2014, one of my teachers at Nepean Creative and Performing Arts High School invited me to a film making weekend at the Penrith Regional Gallery. I met a group of people that were all 17-18 while I was 14. We were split into groups to start working on the project. I shared my idea with the group and we chose to work with it. I enjoyed making my first short film that weekend with my small group and we entered it into the Winter Light Film Competition at the gallery and came out with the junior prize. This was the first time I had ever thought of trying to get a career in the film industry.

In 2016, I wrote and directed a short film titled 'Wishing to Forget' in our high school Film Ensemble, with a small group. We were successful in gaining entry to the Arts Alive Film Festival held at Dendy Cinema in Circular Quay. Within this festival we were awarded 'Best Drama'.

In my time studying to achieve my Bachelor of Film at SAE QANTM Creative Media Institute, I have worked with a large group of people to create a few short projects. Some of these projects include short films, a documentary, a short 360 video and a web series. I also worked with other film students and a game student to film and create a choose your own adventure game.

I am currently in the process of writing my second film. I have been working on it for a few years but I want to make sure it is what I want. It was inspired by one of my teachers in high school, she gave me an extra task because I was ahead of my class and she thought I could handle the extra workload. She was my inspiration and because of her I want to make a difference in what I write and create. I want to be able to make a difference when people watch.
